Suarez rescues Peru, Chile too hot for Mexico

Buenos Aires. It was the first match of the Copa America cup where two teams of equal strengths locked horns. Chile came back from a goal down to beat an under strength Mexico 2-1. The match was heading towards a draw before Arturo Vidal scored a late goal in the last minutes of the game.

In the other game of the day, world cup semifinalist and top contenders to win the tournament, Paraguay had a tough time in salvaging their pride against a below par Peru. Playing with stars like Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez, Paraguay was everybody’s favorite but the Peruvians drew first blood as they took the lead in the 24th minute through striker Paolo Guerrero.

Paraguay kept probing and finally equalized through Suarez in first half’s injury time.

Uruguay's draw meant all the top three sides at the tournament have failed to win their opening matches. Hosts Argentina were held 1-1 by Bolivia, while Brazil drew 0-0 by Venezuela.
