Trott is England’s Player of the Year

London. Jonathan Trott reaped rich dividends for being England’s best batsman in the last season in all formats of the game. He won the England Player of the Year award given by the ECB. The award is given on the basis of votes by the British cricket media. He was voted ahead of Alistair Cook who scored 766 runs in the last winter’s Ashes.

Trott was absolutely phenomenal in the last 12 months, he scored 1,317 Test runs at an average of 94.07, as well as 1,132 one-day runs at 56.6. His overall test average of 66.77 is next only to Don Bradman.

Trott almost effortlessly scores his runs and maintains a sense of calmness, he may not be as flamboyant as KP but he is very effective. He piled on 203 against Sri Lanka at the recent Cardiff test which England won dramatically on the final day.
