Dhoni’s WC bat sold for 72 lakhs

London: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s bat which he used in the WC finals to play a match winning 91 against Sri Lanka was auctioned at a whopping 100,000 pounds here. A total of around 4,50,000 pounds were fetched at the charity function where cricket gears of various star cricketers and original Artwork of Sacha Jafri went under the hammer.

Dhoni also launched his charitable foundation, 'Winning Ways Today for Tomorrow', at the function. Sacha Jaferi’s painting which has signatures and hand impressions of cricketers like Ricky Ponting, Andrew Flintoff, Allan Border and Lasith Malinga, went for 250,000 pounds.

Dhoni will be building a new sports academy at Ranchi for which a plot has already been allotted by the Jharkhand government. The academy will also have housing facilities, where children from all sections of the society can come and hone their skills.
