India wins 3 bronze in Kobe

Kobe. India begged three bronze medals on the second day of the Asian Athletics Championship. Bharat Inder Singh in decathlon, OP Jaisha in women’s 1500 meters, and Harwant Kaur in Women’s discus throw were placed third in their respective games. India’s star athlete and CWG gold medal winner lost the chance of a podium finish by a whisker as she finished fourth.

Bharat Inder Singh won India’s first medal in decathlon in 30 years. OP Jaisha had a tough fight for the third place from a Japanese girl, while Brunei's Genzeb Regassa (4:15.91) and Thanh Hang Trouong of Vietnam (4:18.40) were too good for her. She finished 4:21.41 to win the bronze medal.

In the discus throw event almost all competitors managed mediocre performances. India ‘s gold medal hopes were drowned when Krishna Poonia returning from a long injury lay off could only manage a 56.32 m throw and finished fourth. Harwant too could only manage a below par performance with 57.99m to take the bronze.
